I’ll give you two scenarios.

Imagine you’re a 28-year old who is still filling those Happy Meal boxes. You’ve not been promoted because you call in sick at least once a week, and have no ambition to learn new skills or lead anyone. You just wanted to eat fries and get fried. You demand $15/hour for those grueling 32 hours you work every week, slinging gender-neutral toys.

Now imagine you’re a 21-year old Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps. You’ve been meritoriously promoted twice for your actions in combat. Calling in sick to combat isn’t an option & there is no overtime incentive despite “work weeks” that are pretty much 24/7. You’ve taken advantage of every school you can, and you’re a fire team leader. Your current wage? $12.50/hour.

“That Marine chose to do that!”

Yea, and you chose to sit on your ass and do nothing but complain about what you’re owed.

This is just one example of why a blanket increase of the minimum wage is a ridiculous and irresponsible, shortsighted idea.
