@PaxCandidus Dictators are supreme leaders with the ability to do anything. Declaring martial law doesn’t allow trump to just make up laws that are unrelated. They are not functionally the same thing.
I’m actually really glad he has been hands off on most of this. Personally I believe we give the office of the president way too much power anyway. Ide like to see all branches taken down a notch. But that’s just me.
If trump was a dictator he could ( I’m not saying he would) make laws that say if you criticize him you are put to death. I love trump, don’t get me wrong but I don’t agree with everything he says. Just a couple of weeks ago he said if you burn an American flag you should get one year in prison. This is so against the first amendment it’s not even funny. If I went to a store, bought a flag and threw it in my bon fire I absolutely do not deserve one year in prison. If trump was a dictator he could make that law at the snap of his fingers and I’m not ok with that. Are you?

I'm likely a little more extreme than you do, I think I do support some kind of strict punishment for burning the flag of one's country. It seems to me that if one hates their country and espouses rhetoric to bring about it's destruction perhaps that shouldn't be covered by the first amendment. Burning the flag could be seen as an avocation for violence (admittedly not always) and should probably be punished. I don't know, I'm just so done with the left and see them as so evil I want anyone to come in and do what it takes to stop them.

I want to be able to yell and scream and criticize my government in anyway I see fit as long as I’m non violent and there are zero victims. I see people that burn our flag as complete scum. But I will defend their right to say anything they please and if they want to make a fire ten foot tall of nothing but Americans flags no body has the right to tell them they can’t. That’s one of the costs of freedom. Living with people with different opinions. Avoid them,if they own a business, boycott them, do whatever you want burn the antifa flag, blow up the quran with tanerite, I don’t care. Back in the mid to late 80s you had a handful of racist skinhead gangs around town. They tried to recruit people into their groups but few ever joined up and those groups dissipated.
I think “racism” is grossly overestimated as a threat to society today. It’s like the media establishment is trying to make it much more than it really is.
If you watch the Vice production called “Hate Thy Neighbor” they feature a comedian who interviews different “racist” groups all over the world.
