I think that most people live with an element of fear even when we choose freedom. I remember as teenager and in my 20s and 30s - even though outspoken, being very mindful of what would make me popular or unpopular, - that is fear of man, fear of losing friendships. Only in my late 30s when I met the love of Jesus did I begin to lose the fear of man.. and to speak out truths which sometimes offended friends (eg Pro life, ) and yes, my assessment as a teen was right. I have lost friends through having different views. So now I am less fearful of man ... and learning to fear God (in a Good way) and God says “Fear not!”
