I have been, ever so slowly, working through Plato’s dialogues. Today is “Apology,” which dramatizes #cancelculture , ancient-Athenian style: the trial, conviction, and sentencing of Socrates for “corrupting the youth.”

Socrates, having just been sentenced to death, warned,

“If you think that by killing men you can prevent some one from censuring your evil lives, you are mistaken; that is not a way of escape that is either possible or honorable; the easiest and noblest way is not to be disabling others, but to be improving yourselves.”

This is also the dialogue in which he said, “the unexamined life is not worth living.”

We have this cool thing here on Parler called an echo... 😅

Can we as humans interpret REALITY ? I believe so.. there is a universal TRUTH we can rely on by science/ study of existence.

It is amazing to witness the lust to repeat history.

Man has written the current play a 1000 times, in a billion lives, over 10,000 years. Will we every get the ending correct?

Is the individual superior to the collective? How big is the collective? Does everyone know your name?

I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind but now I see. We’ve been there, 10,000 years bright shining as the sun leave no less days to sing gods praise than when we first begun!

How dare you get people thinking for themselves!

That's also Barney Stinson: if How I Met Your Mother was into philosophy, siding with Athenians against Socrates would have made the list.

Unfortunately, those who don't take the time to learn about the past are doomed to repeat it. We can look at today and see the exact same thing happening that happened at the fall of Rome and Germany. Our schools and higher learning have been erasing or just not teaching true history, and now we are under a tidal wave of ignorance that is crushing all of us. Silence is a killer. Thank you for posting relative content.

His student, Plato, had a profound influence on the Christian church. Not necessarily for good, unfortunately.

Bill and Ted have completely ruined my ability to take the name socrates seriously in any intellectual capacity.

The solution to our modern political problems lies in teaching of history. Nothing is new politically.

The one who needs to hear the message, wont get it.
